How many Sq. Ft. will a yard of mulch cover?

Approximately 150 Sq. Ft. at 2" deep, 100 Sq. Ft. at 3" deep 81 Sq. Ft. at 4" deep.

What is a yard vs. a ton?

All products have different densities and to insure our customers receive exact quantities of product. We use state of the art weighing systems on our equipment. A yard is 27 cubic feet and a ton is 2000 lbs.

How many square feet does decorative stone cover?

Each stone product has a different density. Click on the Decorative Stone link at the top of the page to view what the Sq. Ft. coverage's are per ton at 2" deep.

How do I calculate square feet, and figure out how much product I need?

Length multiplied by width to figure out the Sq. Ft. Divide your Sq. Ft. by what the product covers. Example if your area is 10 Ft. by 15 Ft. your Sq. Ft. would be 150. And you want to use Meramec Large which covers 100 Sq. Ft. per ton at 2" deep, you would divide 150 by 100 which is 1.5 tons.

Should I use landscape fabric with mulch and/or decorative stone?

Yes, use a professional grade landscape fabric to prevent weeds.

Does Stoney Island deliver products?

Yes, we will deliver all products we sell 7 days a week.

Can I pick-up products?

Yes, bring your truck, trailer, or 5-gallon bucket. We sell our products in any quantity.

How long does mulch last?

The Premium Hardwood and Oak Bark last approximately 1.5 - 2 years. And the Canadian Red Cedar lasts approximately 2 - 3 years. The Enviro Mulches last approximately 2 - 3 years but the color will fade due to the UV rays from the sun (Hint to stretch your dollars roll mulch that has not been affected by UV rays from the sun to cover faded mulch). Mulching is an on going process that requires maintenance.
